'''  Our influence over people and vise versa are incredible powerful things and should not be discounted. Sometimes these scenarios are of important matters like how a group of people will respond to something or a way to treat people. In other situations it's as simple of influencing people for a spring break destination or where your family will be going for dinner.  

When I was a sophomore in high school I wanted to move to Kenya for five months to go to school and work with different organizations in the slums and orphanages. I had many obstacles to overcome such as convincing my school to accept my transfer credits and also raising $12,000 to pay for the trip. One of the ways was to sell candy bars at my high school. The district had a policy against "soliciting” in the school (understandably). I had to get special permission in order for them to allow this.  

I was able to convince my principal and other administration that by selling these candy bars I would not only be raising money for the trip but also be raising awareness about what life can be like in developing countries. I had to agree to certain sets of rules such as only before and after the bell rang in class. Another of the requirements is that when I returned from Kenya I would give a few presentations in order to help spread information and awareness. Overall I was able to influence them to believe that by selling candy bars for $1 it would also be an opportunity to help educate our school community. ''
