Complete the Blizzard activity with at least 2 other people (i.e., friends, family members, significant others, etc.) and summarize your reactions in a Word document. Explicit instructions are listed on the first page of the handout. Read directions closely! Basically, each person will complete the first set of rankings by themselves. Next, as a group, all of you need to come to consensus on the items. You then get the correct answers and make some simple calculations.Note: Please download the answers AFTER you are finished with the first two steps of the activity. Don't spoil the fun! The exercise will take about 30-45 minutes to complete.
The purpose of this assignment is to demonstrate differences between individual and group decision making. In your write up, include the four calculations you made (including everyone's individual scores), and address the following questions: How did your group perform relative to yourself? How did your group perform relative to the average individual score in the group? How did you group perform relative to the best individual score in the group? Typically, the group consensus rating is superior to any individual's ranking; was this true for your group? What do these results tell you about the effectiveness of group decision making? Your answer should be of sufficient length to fully answer the question.
